David Arthur Brooks, originally from Eastport, Maine, and long-time summer resident of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is an emeritus professor of oceanography at Texas A&M University, with specialty in physical oceanography. His research and scientific publications focus on ocean currents and tides, with emphasis on the Gulf Stream and the Gulf of Maine.
